Lot 380: A LARGE PERSIAN HERIZ CARPET, CIRCA 1890

A hand-knotted Persian Heriz carpet, circa 1890. The carpet is constructed with a wool pile on a cotton foundation. The design features a large, multi-layered geometric central medallion in deep indigo and light blue with a pale pink core, positioned on a terracotta field. The field is decorated with stylized angular floral sprays and geometric vines. Light blue spandrels at the corners contain coordinating geometric motifs. The main border is executed in deep indigo with a turtle design, bordered by multiple guard bands featuring repeating floral and geometric patterns in cream, ochre, and salmon pink.
