A hand-knotted wool runner of Qashqai tribal design, Southwest Persia, dating to circa 1980s. The long-format piece features a classic triple medallion layout arranged vertically on a deep madder red field. The central stepped geometric medallion is set on an ivory ground, flanked by two navy blue ground medallions, each containing internal cruciform and star motifs. The surrounding field is densely populated with traditional tribal filler motifs, including stylized birds, geometric floral sprays, and S-shaped hook symbols. The rug is framed by multiple narrow guard stripes and a primary ivory-ground border featuring a repeating series of polychrome geometric palmettes and floral heads. The side selvedges are overcast in dark navy blue wool.
