This is a hand-woven Qashqai wool kilim rug featuring a flat-weave construction. The design is centred around a large, vibrant cobalt blue field containing a red diamond-shaped medallion. Within the medallion is a single animal figure, potentially a goat or ibex, rendered in cream-coloured wool. The field is bordered by a series of geometric patterns, beginning with an inner frame of serrated triangular peaks in alternating shades of red, ivory, yellow, and green. The outermost border is comprised of a repeating navy and ivory crenellated motif, often referred to as a running dog pattern. The rug is constructed using a weft-faced technique that produces a distinct ribbed texture.
