Lot 370: A HAND-KNOTTED PERSIAN SILK RUG WITH CENTRAL ZOOMORPHIC MEDALLION
0 views
A hand-knotted silk rug featuring a terracotta-coloured central field decorated with two mirrored stylised zoomorphic figures. The figures appear as stags or deer with spotted bodies and prominent antlers, positioned facing one another. This central scene is enclosed within a multi-layered octagonal medallion with a turquoise and olive-green ground. The rug is framed by several geometric borders, including a wide main border with interlocking diamond motifs and narrower guard stripes featuring running dog and zigzag patterns. The reverse displays a fine, dense hand-knotted weave. The rug is constructed with a silk pile on a silk foundation.
