An Indian steel recurve bow of characteristic crab-like form, dating to the 20th century. The bow is constructed from steel exhibiting a crystalline Damascus or wootz pattern. The exterior faces of the limbs and the central grip are profusely decorated with gold koftgari work, depicting intricate floral and foliate vine scrolls. This damascened ornamentation is framed by narrow decorative borders. The bow tapers towards the ends, which feature notched nocks for the attachment of a string.
