Lot 18: A PERSIAN QAJAR POLYCHROME CERAMIC FOUR-TILE PANEL, 19TH CENTURY

A square panel consisting of four glazed ceramic tiles mounted in a dark-stained wood frame. The composition features four scalloped yellow cartouches, each enclosing two seated figures within a stylised landscape of water and flowering plants. The upper-left tile depicts two male figures wearing turbans and tunics in shades of green and pink. The remaining three tiles each portray a pair of female figures wearing headscarves and long robes in blue and pink. The figures are rendered with heavy black outlines, almond-shaped eyes, and joined eyebrows. These medallions are set against a cobalt blue background densely populated with floral and foliate designs, including trees with spherical white blossoms and pink flowers.
