Buyer's Premium:

An irregular architectural tile fragment executed in the cuerda seca technique. The design features an interlocking floral lattice pattern with lobed manganese black cartouches, each containing a six-petalled white floral head with a dark centre, set against a deep cobalt blue ground. A section of the original border survives at one edge, showing a thick black line separated from a turquoise outer edge by a narrow white band. The glazed surface exhibits a fine, overall crazing throughout. The reverse displays a coarse, buff-coloured stonepaste body with visible surface irregularities and remnants of original mounting mortar.

Provenance: Private Collection, London.
