Lot 112: AN ASSORTMENT OF OMANI SILVER JEWELLERY WITH INTERNATIONAL COINAGE, 19TH CENTURY

An assortment of Omani silver jewellery comprising a primary necklace, a smaller circular ornament, and two bangles, all featuring traditional cord-based construction. The primary necklace is made of thick cord wrapped in sections of red, green, purple, and brown thread. It suspends twelve silver coins and three large architectural pendants. The central pendant is a square repoussé plaque, which is flanked by two cylindrical amulet cases, one of which is decorated with six clusters of dangling spherical bells. The silver coins originate from multiple countries and include Mexican examples struck with an eagle and snake and the text REPUBLICA MEXICANA on the obverse, with the reverse reading LIBERTAD, 8 R. Z. 1877. J.S. 10 Ds. 20 Gs. British Indian coinage includes a ONE RUPEE INDIA 1913 coin featuring George V and a ONE RUPEE INDIA 1890 coin featuring Victoria Empress. A French coin depicts a profile portrait with the legend LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANCAIS on the obverse and 5 FRANCS 1830 on the reverse. The smaller circular ornament is constructed from thread-wrapped cord and suspends seven square silver plaques and a central ONE RUPEE INDIA 1890 coin. The two bangles include a wide, heavy cuff with chased herringbone and geometric banding and a simpler tapered band, both finished with cord-and-knot closures wrapped in red, green, and tan thread.
