A Persian fritware tile formed as an eight-pointed star, decorated in lustre and underglaze cobalt blue. The central field features a moulded design of scrolling foliate motifs and stylised blossoms, painted in a golden-brown lustre glaze against a light ground. The central composition is enclosed within a double border, the inner line painted in cobalt blue. The outer border consists of a continuous band of cursive Persian calligraphy, likely poetic verses, painted in lustre. The lustre glaze displays characteristic metallic iridescence.
