AN EGYPTIAN TURQUOISE FAIENCE FIGURINE OF A NUDE FEMALE HOLDING MONKEYS, THIRD INTERMEDIATE PERIOD, CIRCA 1070 – 644 BCE

This small figurine is crafted from glazed composition, commonly referred to as faience, featuring a turquoise-green finish. The piece depicts a standing female figure, likely representing a fertility goddess or a related protective deity. She is shown wearing a voluminous tripartite wig with textured curls, surmounted by a small modius or crown. The figure holds her hands two monkeys. A band of incised lozenge-shaped patterning is visible around the hips. The reverse of the figurine shows a thick vertical plait and two small pierced suspension holes at the shoulders, suggesting it may have served as an amulet or was intended for attachment. The figure stands upon a small integral rectangular base.
