Buyer's Premium:

An Egyptian turquoise-green faience figurine depicting the goddess Isis nursing the infant Horus, commonly known as Isis Lactans. This votive piece dates from the Late Period to the Ptolemaic period. Isis is portrayed seated upon a low-backed throne embellished with a cross-hatched or scale pattern on its sides. She wears a traditional striated tripartite wig surmounted by her characteristic stepped-throne crown. The infant Horus is positioned perpendicularly across her lap. The sculpture is rendered in a turquoise-green glaze over a light-coloured siliceous core and is supported by an integral rectangular plinth.
