Buyer's Premium:

The object is composed of a long rectangular section for pens and a faceted octagonal inkwell attached towards one end. The base material is a copper alloy, likely brass, featuring extensive bimetallic inlay of silver and copper. The decoration is dominated by a central band of Arabic calligraphy in thuluth script, which translates to a standard honourific formula beginning with Al-izz li-mawlana al-sultan (Glory to our Lord, the Sultan). This calligraphic band is flanked by silver-inlaid quatrefoil rosettes containing floral motifs. The sides and the inkwell are further embellished with intricate geometric interlace patterns and twisted rope borders.
