A circular dish or tray of papier-mâché construction, featuring traditional Kashmiri naqashi lacquerwork. The face is decorated with a central circular medallion and six satellite medallions, each containing dense floral scrollwork in gold paint over a dark ground. The surrounding field is filled with a minute, repeating hazara or thousand flowers pattern executed in shades of terracotta red and gold. The outer rim is finished with a black border containing a thin yellow line. The reverse of the dish is finished in plain black lacquer and features a central raised foot rim. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are present.
