Buyer's Premium:

A nineteenth-century Persian sword featuring a straight, double-edged wavy or serpentine blade. The steel blade is decorated at the fort and towards the tip with gold inlaid damascened work, exhibiting intricate floral and foliate scrollwork. The hilt is an all-steel construction of traditional form, featuring a grip with a central swell and forward-curving quillons with stylised bud terminals. The broad pommel is surmounted by a long, tapering spike, with central langets extending from the cross-guard to secure the blade. The sword is accompanied by a later plain black leather-covered wooden scabbard.
