An Islamic silver and carnelian talismanic pendant, also known as a ta’wiz, featuring a central oval carnelian intaglio. The reddish-orange stone is deeply hand-carved with dense, interlaced Arabic calligraphy, typically comprising protective Quranic verses or the names of the Ahl al-Bayt. The intaglio is set within a decorative silver frame, embellished with chased and engraved foliate scrollwork and a segmented, bamboo-style outer border. The piece is fitted with two circular silver suspension loops at the top corners for attachment to a chain or cord. The reverse features a flat silver backplate with a small paper inventory label marked C164.
