Lot 143: AN ISLAMIC INSCRIBED CARNELIAN AND SILVER BAZUBAND ELEMENT, PERSIA, 19TH CENTURY

An oval carnelian plaque set within a silver mount, attributed to 19th-century Qajar Iran or the Ottoman Empire. The carnelian is decorated with dense intaglio-engraved Arabic calligraphy across its surface. The central portion of the stone features three horizontal registers of script, surrounded by a calligraphic border. The inscriptions are religious or talismanic in nature, with the words Allah and ibn clearly distinguishable within the text. The stone is housed in a plain silver-toned metal mount with two sets of twin loops soldered to the lateral edges, designed for securing the piece to a textile or leather strap, typically as part of an armband or bazuband.
