Consists of a long rectangular pen case for holding reed pens, with an attached octagonal inkwell and a smaller secondary octagonal socket. The exterior surfaces are decorated with high-relief chasing and engraving, including three circular medallions with quatrefoil centres on the top face. The background consists of scale patterns and geometric cross-hatching. The octagonal inkwell is fitted with a hinged, domed lid and displays matching decorative motifs.
