Buyer's Premium:

A late Ottoman period bound volume of music, likely an instructional or transcriptive work, published in Constantinople by Chamli Selim. The volume is an octavo format bound in brown cloth-covered boards. The front cover features a gilt-stamped Ottoman Tughra and the title Musique in gothic script, enclosed within an Art Nouveau-style border. The internal title page is illustrated with lithographed depictions of birds, a lyre, and various musical instruments. It bears the Ottoman Turkish title Risale-i Musiqiyye, the French subtitle CHANT TURC, and the publisher’s imprint Edition Chamli Selim / 73 Veznedjiler 73. The contents consist of printed instructional text in Ottoman Turkish and printed staff notation. The volume is heavily supplemented throughout with extensive manuscript musical notation executed in black and blue ink. These manuscript additions include staff notation, lyrics, and annotations in Ottoman Turkish script.
