The text is presented in a fine cursive script in black ink, with surah headings and specific verse markers executed in gold leaf. The illumination includes several sets of double-page carpet frontispieces with intricate geometric interlacing in gold, blue, and reddish-pink pigments. These spreads include hexagonal cartouches containing calligraphic names and geometric floral interlace. The margins are decorated with ornate gold-and-blue floral thumbpieces and circular medallions known as shamsas. The opening pages of the text, containing Surah Al-Fatihah and the start of Surah Al-Baqarah, are elaborately framed in gold with dense marginal ornamentation.
