Lot 28: A MINIATURE THUMB SIZE PRINT QURAN. VIMPERK: HANS STEINBRENER, CIRCA 1920S

This miniature thumb size print Quran is attributed to the publishing house of Hans Steinbrener in Vimperk, Bohemia. The volume is bound in a green textured leather featuring ornate gilt-stamped arabesque and scrolling foliate patterns across both boards and the spine. The binding is constructed with an integrated wrap-around strap closure. A braided cord with a green and brown tassel is attached to the tail of the spine. The interior consists of pages printed in Arabic script with the opening folios displaying elaborate decorative borders. The text begins with the Basmala and the edges of the text block are gilt. The endpapers are yellow and feature a small, repeated geometric pattern. This specimen represents a standard devotional printing of the period, often produced for the international market.
