This is a hand-written manuscript containing the first half of the Holy Quran, executed in the village of Al-Khattaba at the mosque on Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf. The colophon on the final page identifies the scribe as Abdullah bin Ahmad Alkhanji Alsufi Alshaafi Alanaji and dates the completion of the copying to the 3rd of Rajab, 1240 AH (approximately February 1825 AD). The text is written in a clear black Naskh script with red ink used for vocalization and punctuation. The manuscript opens with a double-page illuminated frontispiece (unwan) featuring floral and foliate motifs in pink, yellow, and green, framing the text of Surat al-Fatiha and the beginning of Surat al-Baqara. The volume is bound in flexible dark brown leather with a central inset red leather mandorla featuring a tooled floral design and blind-tooled borders. Several pages contain marginal notes in different hands.
