Lot 25: AN ISLAMIC MANUSCRIPT DALAIL AL-KHAYRAT, NORTH AFRICA, 1200 A.H. - 1785–1786 A.D

An illuminated Islamic manuscript copy of the Dalail al-Khayrat wa-Shawariq al-Anwar fi Dhikr al-Salat ‘ala al-Nabi al-Mukhtar (Waymarks of Benefits and the Brilliant Burst of Lights in the Remembrance of Blessings on the Chosen Prophet), a collection of prayers for the Prophet Muhammad by the Moroccan Sufi scholar Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli (d. 1465). The work is a small octavo-format volume bound in full burgundy morocco leather featuring a blind-stamped central mandorla and an attached gold silk tassel bookmark. The text is handwritten in a Maghribi script in black ink with headings and key terms highlighted in red. The title page transcription identifies the author as Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli al-Simlali al-Sharif al-Hasani. The manuscript is decorated with gold leaf, including several pages with foliate gold borders and two full-page architectural illustrations depicting the holy sites of Medina, specifically the Prophet’s Mosque and the tombs of the Prophet and the first two Caliphs. The volume includes several illuminated panels in blue, gold, and red, as well as marginal notes and corrections in the same hand.
