Lot 231: AN ISLAMIC BRASS ROSEWATER SPRINKLER (GULABPASH), EGYPT, 20TH CENTURY

This rosewater sprinkler, or gulabpash, is constructed from a base metal, likely brass or bronze, featuring a bulbous body that tapers to a long, slender neck. The vessel is decorated with intricate chased and engraved ornamentation, including prominent bands of calligraphic script and floral arabesque motifs. Remnants of a silver or tin wash are visible across the exterior surface. The form is characteristic of Middle Eastern and Islamic metalwork used for dispensing scented water.
