Lot 169: ISLAMIC 99-BEAD CARVED WOOD TASBIH PRAYER STRAND
0 views
This Islamic prayer strand, also known as a tasbih or misbaha, is composed of approximately 99 carved, slightly flattened spherical beads. The beads are crafted from a dense, reddish-brown organic material, consistent in appearance with ironwood or kuk wood. The strand is divided into three sections by two thin, red disc-shaped spacer beads. The beads are joined at a long, turned, and tapered finial, known as an imame, which features decorative incised rings. The beads are strung on a continuous cord that passes through the imame and terminates in a simple knotted end.
