A suite of 19th-century Company School paintings executed in gouache on translucent mica sheets. The collection depicts various scenes of daily life in India, including agricultural labourers digging, water carriers with bullocks, a team of palanquin bearers, and travellers with laden bullock carts. The figures are rendered with fine detail and opaque pigment, positioned against minimal backgrounds. The translucent nature of the mica is enhanced by a silvered foil backing, creating a shimmering effect. Each painting is housed in a matching black-painted wooden frame featuring a narrow, beaded gilt inner border.
