Lot 37: A GOLD ISLAMIC CALLIGRAPHIC PANEL SIGNED RAQEM

The central composition is executed in an interlocking Jali Thuluth script, presenting the Quranic verse from Surah Al-Imran (3:173): "Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel", which translates to "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs". The calligraphy is meticulously rendered in burnished gold. The work is framed by an inner border of repeating stylized foliate or wheat-ear motifs in gold, followed by an outer border consisting of a double-ruled gold frame with interlaced guilloche knot-work ornaments at the corners and the centre points of each side. A small calligraphic signature is contained within a medallion at the lower-left corner.
