Lot 346: A CARVED RUSSET NEPHRITE JADE PENDANT WITH CENTRAL CASH COIN MOTIF AND FILIGREE METAL BEADS

This lot comprises a lobed, scalloped plaque of russet-coloured nephrite jade, featuring a combination of openwork and incised carving. The central motif depicts a traditional Chinese cash coin, represented by a circular element with a square central aperture. This central element is surrounded by symmetrical scrolls and foliate motifs, representing bats (fu), traditional symbols of good fortune. The carving is consistent on both the obverse and reverse faces. The piece is suspended from a black cord. A single, spherical silver-toned metal bead is positioned directly above the jade plaque. The ends of the cord are finished with two cylindrical silver-toned metal beads decorated with filigree-style scrollwork patterns.
