Lot 328: A PAIR OF VINTAGE GREEK FOLK SOUVENIR DOLLS IN TRADITIONAL REGIONAL COSTUMES

A pair of vintage Greek cloth dolls representing a male Evzone and a woman in traditional regional dress. The dolls are handmade with fabric bodies and feature hand-painted facial details. The male figure is depicted in the uniform of an Evzone, or member of the Greek Presidential Guard, wearing a white cotton pleated fustanella and a white shirt with flared sleeves. He wears a greyish-blue felt fermeli or waistcoat embellished with gold-coloured braided trim and circular sequins . His attire is completed with a red velvet phareon cap with a long black horsehair tassel and a two-tone twisted cord belt. His legs are covered in cream-coloured fabric hosiery with black garters, ending in red leather tsarouchia shoes. The female figure is dressed in a cream cotton chemise and a blue felt bolero jacket featuring red cross-stitch geometric embroidery . She wears a necklace of small gold-coloured metal discs mimicking coins and a yellow floral-patterned fabric mandila tied as a headscarf. Her lower garments consist of a striped apron over a pleated cream skirt with a blue felt border at the hem carrying matching red cross-stitch decoration . She wears black leather shoes.
