The text opens with a double-page illuminated frontispiece (sarlawh) featuring floral and foliate motifs in gold and lapis lazuli blue. Surah headings throughout are executed in gold ink on blue or gold decorated rectangular panels. The margins contain gold roundels (shamsas) and frequent handwritten instructions and commentary in Persian script. The manuscript is bound in a dark reddish-brown full leather cover with remnants of blind-stamped mandorla central medallions and pendants. The interior features marbled paper pastedowns. The opening pages include Surah Al-Fatiha followed by the beginning of Surah Al-Baqarah.
