An Indian katar or punch dagger featuring a broad, tapering steel blade of triangular form. The blade is forged with a prominent central medial ridge flanked by two deep longitudinal fullers on each side. The hilt is of traditional H-shaped construction, consisting of two parallel side bars joined by two waisted transverse grip bars. The exterior faces of the side bars are decorated with silver-inlaid koftgari work, displaying a dense repeating geometric star-like pattern contained within a linear border. The inner surfaces and underside of the hilt are finished in plain steel.
