Lot 274: AN INSCRIBED ISLAMIC TALISMANIC AGATE IN A SILVER RING

A Middle Eastern white metal signet ring featuring a large oval carnelian intaglio. The central stone is deep red in colour and is finely engraved with calligraphic script in an Islamic style, interspersed with small foliate accents. The carnelian is secured within a prominent sawtooth bezel. The shoulders of the ring are decorated with a tiered architectural design, comprising three triangular pierced cutouts framed by beaded borders, situated above a lower section of scrolled openwork.
