Lot 270: AN INSCRIBED ISLAMIC TALISMANIC AGATE IN A SILVER RING

The ring features a central rectangular red carnelian stone with a flat top, which is intaglio-engraved with Arabic calligraphy. The text is the Basmala: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم (In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful). The stone is held in place by a series of ridged vertical prongs at the top and bottom, with scrolled borders at the sides. The shoulders are decorated with a textured, cross-hatched grid pattern. The reverse of the shank features an incised geometric motif consisting of an X flanked by vertical lines.
