Lot 188: A MIDDLE EASTERN TINNED COPPER DALLAH COFFEE POT, SAUDI ARABIA, 19TH - 20TH CENTURY
0 views
A traditional Arabic coffee pot, or dallah, of hand-hammered copper construction with a white-metal tinned wash, characteristic of the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant. The vessel features a waisted cylindrical body rising from a flared circular base to a prominent elongated beak-shaped spout. A high-arched handle with hand-punched circular decorative motifs along the borders is soldered to the body and incorporates a thumbpiece hinge. The conical lid is surmounted by a tiered brass finial terminating in a pointed orb terminal. The exterior surface shows clear evidence of hand-tooling and manual construction.
