A MINIATURE UMAYYAD OR EARLY ABBASID BRONZE EWER WITH KUFIC INSCRIPTIONS, 8TH-9TH CENTURY

An early Islamic cast bronze ewer of miniature proportions, featuring a globular body supported by a flared circular foot. The tall cylindrical neck is ornamented with three raised horizontal ribs and terminates in a flared rim with a small integral pouring spout. A high-arching, recurved handle is attached to the rim and upper body, featuring five raised horizontal bands along the grip. The body is decorated with a central horizontal band of Kufic inscription flanked by two lozenge motifs.
