A CAST GILDED SILVER FIGURINE OF A BEARDED FIGURE HOLDING A BIRD, POSSIBLY ETHIOPIAN, 19TH CENTURY OR EARLIER

A cast silver figurine of a bearded male figure, potentially representing the Good Shepherd or a biblical saint, holding a bird to his chest. The sculpture is executed in a stylised manner characterised by large almond-shaped eyes, a vertically segmented beard, and rhythmic, deeply incised parallel lines representing the hair and the heavy folds of the garment. The figure is solid cast and stands on two small, integrated feet.
