Lot 109: AN OMANI SILVER AND GILDED METAL HIRZ AMULET NECKLACE, 19TH CENTURY

An Omani tribal hirz amulet necklace featuring a rectangular box-pendant constructed from a silver-toned metal alloy. The face of the pendant is decorated with applied yellow-metal plaques in geometric motifs, including a central rectangular panel with a lattice pattern surrounded by a border of diamond shapes. The lower edge of the pendant is fitted with nine loops supporting suspended chains, which terminate in alternating spherical ghungroo bells and flat, crescent-notched circular charms. The pendant is suspended by two fixed loops from an oval-link chain. The reverse of the amulet box consists of a plain, undecorated metal sheet.
