A LAPIS LAZULI EGYPTIAN PENDANT DEPICTING THE GODDESS HATHOR, LATE PERIOD-PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, CIRCA 664-30 B.C.

The piece is carved from lapis lazuli, showing a deep blue colour with visible gold-toned pyrite inclusions and areas of natural stone matrix. The figure is depicted wearing a tripartite wig with horizontal banding across the crown and vertical striations at the sides, framing a face with almond-shaped eyes and a broad nose. A broad collar is carved across the chest, featuring a central circular element. The reverse of the piece is flat with a rectangular central section of lapis lazuli and features two transverse perforations behind the ears for suspension.
