Buyer's Premium:

An octavo volume printed in Arabic comprising a travelogue and poetry by the Iraqi politician and man of letters, Suleiman Faydi (1885–1951). This work holds significant bibliographic importance as the inaugural book printed by the Basra printing presses, specifically the Al-Mahmoudiya Press, as confirmed by a printed notice on the final page. The text includes twelve commendations (Taqaridh) from various scholars, notably Al-Sayyid Ahmad Effendi al-Fakhri of the Qadiriyya order. The content includes a series of poems, including a notable piece on page thirty-five regarding an honourable journey to the Hijaz. The book concludes with a substantial errata table, which the publisher notes is due to the challenges of being the first publication from these local presses. The volume is bound in black pebble-grained textured boards with a black vertically-ribbed cloth-taped spine. Internally, the pages are printed on contemporary wood-pulp paper.
