ARABIC HARDCOVER BOOK CONTAINING TWO BIOGRAPHICAL WORKS BY THE SCHOLAR IBN HAJAR AL-ASQALANI (1372–1449) CAIRO, 1884

A single-volume Arabic hardcover book containing two biographical works by the scholar Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (1372–1449). The volume includes Al-Rahmah al-Ghaythiyyah fi al-Tarjamah al-Laythiyyah, a biography of the Egyptian jurist Layth ibn Sa’d, and Tawali al-Ta’sis bi-Ma’ali Ibn Idris, a biography of Imam al-Shafi’i. According to the colophon, the work was printed at the Al-Matba’a al-Kubra al-Miriyya in Bulaq, Cairo, in Shawwal 1301 AH (approximately 1883-1884 AD). The volume is an octavo format and is bound in quarter blue cloth with matching corner tips and tan woven canvas-style fabric over boards. It features decorative blue floral-patterned endpapers.
