Lot 29: A CYCLADIC MARBLE FEMALE FIGURE, EARLY SPEDOS VARIETY, CIRCA 2600-2500 B.C.

The figure is carved from a light-coloured marble, displaying the iconic minimalist form associated with this culture. The head is lyre-shaped with a pronounced ridge for the nose. The long neck features incised horizontal bands. The torso shows slanting shoulders with arms folded across the midsection, the right arm positioned below the left. Subtle anatomical details include small, pointed breasts and a rounded abdominal area situated above a deeply incised pubic triangle. The legs are conjoined and taper down towards small, downward-angled feet. The reverse of the sculpture includes a vertical incised line representing the spine and the division of the buttocks.
