Lot 246: A SELJUK BRONZE FLUTED BOTTLE, POSSIBLY KHORASAN, 12TH - 13TH CENTURY

A cast bronze vessel with a bulbous fluted body and a tiered neck featuring a central horizontal flange and a flared, trumpet-shaped rim. The surface is intricately decorated with incised ornamentation. The neck displays bands of braided knotwork near the rim and vertical, stylized lines in the central section suggesting pseudo-Kufic calligraphic script. The body is divided into vertical faceted panels. Each panel contains a square frame with scrolling foliate borders enclosing a central circular medallion with interlaced vegetal motifs. The underside of the base features an incised circular medallion depicting a seated human figure in a cross-legged position.
