The entire surface is decorated with dense high-relief repousse and chased work, illustrating a complex pattern of scrolling foliage, floral blossoms, and avian motifs. The piece stands on a stepped, circular spreading foot with a band of chased foliate decoration. The construction is comprised of several cast components held together by a central threaded metal rod, which is secured on the underside with a hexagonal nut.
