An Ottoman carved and gilded wood turban stand, known as a kavukluk, decorated in the Ottoman Baroque style. The piece features an elongated backplate with an arched crest, intricately carved in high relief with scrolling acanthus leaves and foliate motifs. A central circular medallion contains a stylised fan-shaped palmette design, positioned above a diamond-shaped cartouche. A single semi-circular shelf is fixed to the lower portion, supported by a central scrolling bracket with further foliate carving. The surface is finished with gold leaf over a red bole and gesso ground. The reverse reveals dark-stained wood construction and is fitted with a metal loop for wall mounting.
