Lot 22: A EGYPTIAN BLACK GRANITE OF A SEATED OFFICIAL, 30TH DYNASTY TO PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 4TH - 3RD CENTURY B.C

The figure is rendered with a smooth, rounded bag wig that exposes the ears. The facial features are defined by almond-shaped eyes with carved lids and a subtle, closed-mouth smile. On the reverse, the sculpture features a vertical back pillar incised with a single column of Egyptian hieroglyphs. Legible characters include a triangle (di), a vertical stroke, a water ripple (n), and a solar disc or circle. The piece is a fragment, terminating at the mid-waist and shoulders, and is currently mounted on a modern three-tiered black stone or composite plinth.
