Lot 195: A GROUP OF SIX DIYARBAKIR POTTERY TILES, OTTOMAN TURKEY, LATE 16TH/EARLY 17TH CENTURY

The fragments are constructed from fritware (stonepaste) and feature polychrome underglaze decoration. The colour palette includes cobalt blue, turquoise, sage green, and raised Armenian bole red, covered by a clear glaze. The decoration comprises traditional Ottoman floral motifs, including serrated-petal carnations, elongated tulips, and composite palmettes, all linked by scrolling foliate vines and serrated saz leaves. The reverse of the fragments reveals the buff-coloured ceramic body, with some pieces bearing small white rectangular stickers with the number 14 handwritten in red ink.
