This is an Arabic manuscript of Atbaq al-Dhahab, a work of moral exhortation by Sharaf al-Din Abd al-Mu’min ibn Hibat Allah al-Isfahani (died circa 1203 CE), composed in imitation of Al-Zamakhshari’s Atwaq al-Dhahab. The text is written on cream-coloured paper in a neat Naskh script using black ink, with red rubrics employed for section headings and keywords. The volume is encased in a period dark brown leather binding featuring a central blind-stamped lobed medallion with floral arabesque motifs and a double-line blind-tooled border. The title page identifies the work and the author. The colophon on the final leaf states that the completion of the manuscript was on the 10th of Muharram 1013 AH (June 1604 CE) within the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid al-Nabawi) in Medina. The volume follows a small quarto format and features occasional catchwords.
