Lot 106: A LARGE ILKHANID OR TIMURID BIFOLIA QURAN PAGES, PERSIA OR CENTRAL ASIA , 14TH CENTURY

The Arabic text is written in nine lines of bold black ink per page, executed in a formal muhaqqaq or monumental naskh script. An interlinear Persian translation is provided in a smaller naskh script, written diagonally between the lines of Arabic. The illumination consists of gold and polychrome floral rosettes used as verse markers. The margins feature intricate shamsahs or sunburst medallions decorated with gold, blue, and red pigments. The text includes verses from Surah Al-Mu’minun (The Believers, Chapter 23), specifically spanning segments of verses 60 through 73 and 105 through 118. The leaves are made of burnished, cream-coloured paper.
