Lot 8: AN ILLUMINATED KASHMIRI PRAYER BOOK DALAIL AL-KHAYRAT, INDIA, 19TH CENTURY

This illuminated Kashmiri prayer book contains a collection of devotional prayers, including the Dalail al-Khayrat. The text is written in black Naskh script on paper, with the names of Allah and Muhammad highlighted in red ink. The manuscript features elaborate unwans or illuminated borders decorated with gold leaf and polychrome pigments in shades of blue, pink, and green. The decorative program includes floral motifs and scrolling vines influenced by the Turkish Rococo style, along with lobed gold cartouches in the margins. The volume is housed in a red morocco leather binding featuring stamped central medallions and cornerpieces with traces of gilding. The inner covers are finished with blue and green marbled paper.
