Buyer's Premium:

An Ottoman gilt copper lidded bowl, known as a sahan, likely originating from Turkey and dating to the 19th century. The vessel is constructed from copper with a gilded surface, a technique referred to as tombak. The circular bowl features a shallow, tapered body supported by a short, flared foot rim. It is accompanied by a high, domed lid decorated with chased and engraved floral sprigs and scrolling foliate patterns. The lid is surmounted by a cast finial in the form of a budding fruit or flower nestled within a cluster of leaves. The interior of the bowl and lid shows the raw metal surface with visible oxidation. The underside of the base features a small center pinhole and faint, hand-incised numeric marks near the outer edge of the foot rim.
