Lot 271: AN EMBROIDERED TEXTILE PANEL, OTTOMAN GREEK, 18TH CENTURY
0 views
The composition centres on a large diamond-shaped medallion containing a smaller burgundy square with four pomegranate motifs arranged in a cruciform pattern around a central floret in blue and green. This central element is surrounded by nested geometric borders of stepped and linear patterns in shades of ochre and terracotta. The main field is divided into a grid of square panels filled with shimmering metallic threadwork. The entire composition is framed by a wide, multi-banded border featuring repeating geometric and floral motifs. The reverse is lined with a plain, faded burgundy-red fabric.
